Running a heavily modified (easy to say, not so easy to do) SMAUG codebase, Aethar has emerged from its peers as a dominant variant, with too much original code to even begin to list. Organized into Kingdoms, with player controlled nobility that can use their wealth to increase their holdings, the player communities form tight alliances and bonds between players, always competing with rival Kingdoms to ensure their supremacy. Players may also carve out their own plot of land and earn a castle that they can maintain and modify themselves with their own personal wealth.
