The Shadow`s Embrace (formerly As the Wheel Weaves MUD) is a long-running, multi-user, text based game where you can interact with dozens of people from around the world. Explore thousands of rooms in hundreds of zones, do battle with evil, or seek to bring darkness to the lands. Sail the high seas and climb to the tops of the mountain peaks as you seek to complete quests and find new lands. Players can choose to belong to any of the dozens of Wheel of Time races -- even aiel, trollocs, fades, and others while working with or competing against other players in the quest for fame, glory, and power. If you prefer roleplaying to slaughtering, TSE is highly role-play encouraged and there are several code features in place to support it.

TSE is currently undergoing a massive rebuild. They are adding tons of new code and new areas, including a brand new overland map, a multi-class based system with a brand new remort system, and world maps which are much more realistic in regards to the Wheel of Time world. We welcome you to come and enjoy a MUD which offers true Wheel of Time roleplaying experiences, and that rewards you for playing your character!

Many of the features which existed on the original AWW codebase were integrated into the TSE codebase, while others were dropped or re-written to provide a more realistic Wheel of Time experience. A massive new world map was created to allow players to explore the entire world in a visually appealing manner. In more recent times the world map has grown even larger, encompassing not only the main continent (which includes the Great Blight and the Aiel Waste), but including the lands of Shara, the Seafolk Isles, the Seanchan continent, and the Isle of Madmen, as well.

As the Wheel Weaves began in the Summer of 1998 as the brain-child of Eric Lowe (Dalsor) after he decided that it was time for there to be a MUD which followed Robert Jordan`s examples in his excellent books. Together with a couple of friends, they set out at first simply to get all the ideas together. It took a while, but after only a couple of months, they knew what direction they wanted to head in. Soon after, more friends came along, and those friends brought other friends. It wasn`t long before the fever that had taken the original few was shared by many.
