Detailed description

Armageddon is a highly modified DIKU MUD, a form of multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORG), designe d to provide a roleplaying experience in the harsh d esert world of Zalanthas. The game is entirely textu al, providing a coded backdrop in which players enac t their characters` storylines. Players are required to stay in character on the game, but chatting abou t the game and its community takes place on the disc ussion boards. To get started, telnet to armageddon. org 4050 and create an account (the game is free). O nce you have an account, you can create a character and begin playing.

We strongly suggest that new players take the time to review the wealth of documents describing the rich cultur al and historical detail of Zalanthas in order to help them design and rol eplay an interesting, compelling char acter. At the same time, we invite cu rrent players to continue perusing th e docs as new ones are added and exis ting ones augmented, as well as to vi sit the bookstore, which lists titles that have influenced the game and st aff recommendations. If you want to t ry the game before investing too much time in the documentation, please re ad the Quickstart.

Roleplaying (RP) is not a recommendatio n on Armageddon, it is a requirement. Th is means that while you are in the game playing a character, you should think, a ct, and talk as the character, not as yo urself (the player). Our goal on Armaged don is to provide an environment similar to paper and pencil role- playing games , with the game world being a background / frame work within which the players c an roleplay their characters and have fu n. Although different people may have th eir own definition of `good` RP, the fol lowing guidelines should be followed on Armageddon.

Remember, Armageddon is a game `world`, and much like the real world, there will be consquences for your actions. Even i n the worst parts of town, people will n ot tolerate a maniac charging down the s treet swinging a sword, and a lynch mob will likely be after said maniac in shor t order. Good roleplayers will treat NPC s exactly the same way they treat charac ters controlled by other players.

Armageddon runs at ginka.armageddon.org 4050.
